Discovery hails ‘ideal’ location after moving to Grade II listed offices, aided by property agents John Truslove
A West Midlands recruitment & training company is gearing up for fresh growth after moving into landmark new premises in Redditch, aided by commercial property agency John Truslove.
Discovery, which is already the go-to provider for a string of multi-national companies as well as local SMEs, has moved into Ipsley Court, a Grade II listed former 17th century country house now converted to offices.
Founder and chief executive Jonathan Evans spoke of the move in glowing terms: “As well as a stunning workplace, Ipsley Court provides loads of car parking for our clients and staff while the surrounding Redditch area gives us access to a host of sites for our experiential training.
“We believe in learning through doing, rather than just relying on the classroom. In and around Redditch there is a range of places offering activities such as climbing or rope walking that we use as part of our training processes. And its location makes it easier for clients to get to us.
“As we come out of lockdown and can increase the amount of face-to-face training we carry out Ipsley Court will really come into its own. It is also an ideal location for our recruitment work.”
Jonathan added: “The lockdown just underlined for us the need to move from our previous premises, at Bennetts Hill in Birmingham. It had become increasingly impractical with a lack of car parking and the need for more space for staff and training.
“At the same time we had the move to remote working – we still have people working from home at the moment.
“We started looking for premises and saw Ipsley Court on the website of commercial property agency John Truslove. We got in touch with Ben Truslove, the joint managing director, and he has been brilliant.
“Right from the word go he and his team have been helpful, informative and co-operative with our needs. Everything has gone smoothly. We first saw the premises in October and signed the new lease in December.
“It’s an ideal base for us and has recently been refurbished, while we have also installed a state-of-the-art training studio to accommodate both immersive in-classroom and virtual learning.”
Ben Truslove secured a five year lease on the 3,407 sq ft of offices for landlords, the Sodha family.
Founded 22 years ago, Discovery specialises building better workforces for its clients, who range from £10 million turnover Midlands businesses to international operations with turnovers in the 100s of millions of euros, including major global brands.
Working with businesses across Europe & the USA, its services have grown to include talent management & workforce planning, recruitment, leadership development & commercial training as well as apprenticeships and a specialist diagnostics division for organisations looking to transform their sales functions.
Ben Truslove said: “Ipsley Court offers the ideal base for a growing international training and recruitment business like Discovery, in terms of both location and the sheer quality of premises. It provides a platform for the next stage in the company’s development and brings yet another ambitious business to Redditch.
“We now have the first floor of Ipsley Barn freshly refurbished and newly available to the market to let.
“While not all our premises are Grade II listed, we pride ourselves that we can match every company with the right property and the right landlord, creating long-term partnerships that benefit all concerned.”
Redditch-based chartered surveyors and valuers John Truslove was recently named Most Active Agent in Worcestershire in the Radius Data Exchange survey produced in conjunction with EG, the commercial property market magazine.
Joint managing director Ian Parker was also named Worcestershire Dealmaker of the Year AND Warwickshire Dealmaker of the Year for 2020. The survey year, which runs from August to August, saw John Truslove record a 36% increase in deals negotiated over the 12 months.
