Expanding children’s nursery group takes on new offices, aided by John Truslove
Continuing growth has seen a thriving West Midlands nursery and training group taking on new office, helped by property agents John Truslove.
The MBK group comprises the five Bright Kids nurseries – in Studley, Redditch, Evesham, Northfield in Birmingham and Coughton in Warwickshire – as well as five out-of-school clubs and an increasingly busy training company.
As a result, it has out-grown its headquarters offices in Studley and has now taken on extra office space at Chestnut Court in the village of Sambourne, near Redditch, in a deal negotiated by Ian Parker from John Truslove.
Tricia Wellings, founder and boss at MBK, said the move gave the business more space for training and for its mobile senior team, who work across all five nurseries.
Since Tricia started the business with two colleagues in 1999 it has grown to employ around 90 people and on any single day is looking after about 370 children.
At the same time its MBK Training arm, set up in 2013, is providing services to both company staff and outside nurseries, schools and colleges across the area. As well as training in Early Years work it has developed a specialism in the increasingly important field of safeguarding.
Tricia Wellings said: “We established our own headquarters offices in 2013 in the former village library in Studley, renamed Millennium House, but we added another two nurseries to the group last year and expected to add another one or two this year. We have also seen increasing demand for our training services and it became clear we were in need of additional office space to allow for our continued growth.
“We have a long working relationship with John Truslove, who have provided services such as valuations, so when we started looking at the offices at Chestnut Court where they are the agents we got in touch with them. Ian Parker handled the negotiations and we were very satisfied – we were kept informed every step along the way. It went very smoothly.
“We are currently redecorating and hope to be in the new offices by February.”
John Truslove sold the 1,575 sq ft offices at 8 Chestnut Court in Jill Lane, Sambourne, near Redditch, to MBK on behalf of owner Coltham Developments Ltd for £227,500.
Ian Parker, joint managing director at John Truslove, said: “We know Tricia and the team at MBK very well and were delighted to help them on this further step in the company’s growth. They have a high reputation for both their nurseries and their training work, which underpins their continuing growth.
“They are providing valuable services to both parents and educational establishments across the region and these new offices are sure to provide them with the platform they need for further expansion.
“This is a high quality office development in charming village surroundings and have already attracted half a dozen companies.
“Good offices are always at a premium but here at John Truslove our unrivalled knowledge and expertise in the local commercial property market means we can secure the best deals for all sides involved.”
