Motorbike business creates three jobs after launching new base, helped by John Truslove
A new motorbike repair shop has created three jobs in North Worcestershire after property experts at John Truslove helped find premises to launch the business.
MX Engineering specialises in powder and ceramic coating of motocross and road bikes, also delivering service repairs, tyre replacements and the sale of various bike gear.
George Rees, who studied motorcycle engineering at college and university, set up the business which also employs two colleagues he met while studying.
MX Engineering is based at Unit 4 on the Shaw Lane industrial estate in Stoke Prior, near Bromsgrove, and all three staff have previously worked on BSB (British Superbike) and Arenacross teams.
Mr Rees said: “I set up the business just before the COVID-19 and although we’ve not been pushing the business too much while we were fitting out the shop, there has already been lots of interest from customers coming in for spares and various gear.
“Now we’ve got everything ready, and with people starting to emerge from the lockdown, we’re hoping the business will really take off.
“I’m really grateful to John Truslove for finding us the right premises. They were really helpful throughout while we were moving in and getting things ready.”
John Truslove has negotiated a three-year lease for MX Engineering’s 1,148 sq ft unit at Shaw Lane at £7,600 per year.
Ian Parker, joint managing director at John Truslove, said: “We’re always pleased to be helping people set up in business, and were very impressed by George Rees’ focus and determination.
“We’re sure MX Engineering will prove to be a great little business providing servicing, sales and repairs for local bikers.”
He added: “It’s great to be part of a good news story, and this is just one of many examples of businesses getting on with things during the lockdown, which has seen many property moves taking place.”
